I am a simple man who speaks simple words. It has never been my expectation to ever become a writer that others would quote. But this Christmas to my surprise we received a lovely gift from our daughter and on that gift was a quote that did originate from me. Amazing!
Our daughter was reading comments I had made on Facebook and most of those comments are certainly not designed to be lasting words of wisdom. Most of my Facebook comments are meant to entertain the reader and often border on the ridiculous.
Our daughter’s gifts for family members were white hand towels each bearing a different inscription on them. They were decorative and could be hung in various areas of our homes. Kathie and my inscribed hand towel is proudly displayed in our living room with Alexa resting on top of it.
And now I know you are dying to learn what famous quote our daughter gave me credit for and is displayed so proudly in our home. This quote will probably not ever rise to stardom and be viewed in craft stores all over America plastered on wooden plaques or cloth banners.
Prepare yourself emotionally and hopefully you won’t get too choked up as you read it. 🙂 The black letters that ran down the white hand towel reads, “That has ‘blog’ written all over it!”
You see that is so meaningful to me because I am constantly in search of a topic to write a blog about. I try to write two blogs a month and sometimes I am scratching to come up with a blog idea.
The title of this blog, “Writer’s Block!” indicates that a topic for a blog has been evading me for the past couple weeks. Thank goodness for our daughter’s gift as it has allowed me to produce a third of a blog on its own! 🙂
Now to finish the blog!
Normally I don’t have this problem of coming up with a blog topic. I never worry about it because as the process of living goes on ‘crap happens’ and that crap becomes the new potential blog. Or to quote that famous blogger, “That has “blog” written all over it!
Well, sadly, it’s been a quiet ‘crap happening’ couple of weeks. I suppose I could describe how yesterday I washed both of our bathroom floors wearing my newly purchased knee pads.
Knee pads have been on my item to buy list for sometime now. In the summer as I crawled around the garden I wished I had knee pads many a time. Why did I wait so long to make the purchase?
I’m excited for summer and gardening time to roll around so I can carry out hours of pain free weeding.
Also I’m planning on attacking the kitchen floor with soap and water in the very near future thanks to my super comfortable knee pads.
Thinking of crappy things happening I could describe my snowblower catastrophe that occurred in the middle of blowing out our driveway last week.
I’m not a mechanical person. I consider it successful when I get the snowblower started and keep it running and complete blowing the snow. If suddenly something on the snowblower ceases to function I immediately have a meltdown and memories of my Buzzard Reading Group in third grade come flooding back.
Well last week that feared mechanical breakdown occurred with only half the driveway blown out.
I was proud of myself. I didn’t panic.
Obviously since the snow quit flying out that snow chute I assumed I had sheared a pin. Upon inspection the pins all seemed to be intact. Then panic ensued!
Sheared pins pretty much covered my knowledge of snowblower trouble shooting so I did what any non-mechanical person would do I called Jerry at Cenex where I bought the snowblower.
In no time Jerry arrived loaded the snowblower into his truck and took it to the shop for a professional inspection. His comments made me nervous, however, as he reminded me that the snowblower had a three year warranty on it.
All ended well however when the repaired snowblower was returned and Jerry announced the problem was nothing serious. He said the belts needed adjustment.
Did you know snowblowers have belts?
Maybe I should watch a few YouTube snowblower videos in my spare time. 🙂
Well, that’s all I can come up with for now. Hopefully some interesting crap will happen over the next couple weeks so this writer’s block problem can be eliminated.
I do want to thank our daughter Bonnie for her very thoughtful Christmas gift because without it this blog would have really been short! 🙂
Oh and one more thing……would all of my faithful blog readers commit my not yet famous quote to memory and when you happen upon something that has blog potential give me a call! Thanks. 🙂
“That has ‘blog’ written all over it!”
Until next time.
