“Say That Again” is the title of my next book due to be released this summer. It didn’t take long to discover that the new book title might cause a little confusion. My wife, Kathie, was visiting with her friend Shirley on the phone explaining to her the theme of the new book. During the discussion Shirley asked Kathie what the name of the book was. This morning I was admiring the framed certificate hanging on our dining room wall that read, “Pinnacle Book Achievement Award”. Below that line followed the announcement, “Winner of the Category of Children Interest”. What an impressive looking award I thought but then I was reminded of the rest of the story. Being an author is becoming a pressure filled job. When I first started writing in the early 1980’s things were much simpler. I would write something that I thought was the most awesome thing that anyone had ever composed and I would excitedly prepare to send it off to a publisher. I retired from teaching in 2001. After thirty-four years attempting to inspire middle school and high school students and instill in them a love for life long learning I decided it was time to pursue another one of my favorite pastimes, writing.
