The following blog is actually the Christmas letter that I sent to friends and family minus the pictures (I don’t know how to include pictures as my brain is not wired to complete such difficult tasks.) Hopefully this Christmas note will add to your Christmas cheer! 🙂 Larson’s Holiday Letter in Rhyme I’ve written two rhyming nature books and now I can’t stop, So, this Christmas letter may be a flop! Now I am in a rhyming rut, So, this…..
Birthday cards should be special. But every time I go to look for one I become frustrated. I can never find that perfect card! I prefer the card to relay a little humor, if at all possible, but the card manufactures, and I seem to differ on what humor is. So many of their attempts at humor cause me to respond as my students in class responded to what I thought was outlandishly funny back in my teaching days. If…..
Back in the seventies when C.B.’s were all the rage everyone with a Citizens Band Radio had their own personal name or ‘handle’ as it was referred to. In today’s modern times the computer has taken over the job that the C.B Radio had in those earlier years. So, I’m giving myself a computer ‘handle’. Who knows this may start a new tradition for millions of computer operators. My computer ‘handle’ is going to be “Tootsie Pop”. Tootsie Pops are…..
I’m not sure it’s called a picture tube anymore but whatever that apparatus is on our television that produces the video it just up and died a couple weeks ago. There was no warning. Then I came to my senses and remembered I was in the church choir loft with the church choir with whom I had become a newly inducted member. We were about to start a Wednesday evening practice. The music was the result of the…..
Several years ago as I was marketing my book, “Holiday Adventures for Kids” I made a terrible mistake of venturing into local libraries during their ” story hours’” for children. A book signing in a public library during story hour just seemed to make sense! However the error in my thinking soon became apparent. Since little children don’t tend to carry large sums of money with them they weren’t going to be in a position to invest in my book…..
Yesterday I finally took a hike with a friend that I have been meaning too hike with for several months. I pulled my pair of snowshoes down off the hook on the garage wall and wrestled them onto my boots. In 1980 we moved to a 7.9 acre plot of land out in the country several miles west of Wheaton. Immediately I developed a close friendship with the southern edge of our property as it contained a creek. I had never experienced a…..
