The “situation” began when my wife, Kathie, and I attended our granddaughter’s violin concert.
Now I’m more of a guitar type enjoyer of music but thanks to our granddaughter her music won me over and now I consider the guitar and the violin equally enjoyable.
We were early for the concert so there were many seats available. Finding comfortable seats, we settled in and waited for the concert to begin.
We had twenty minutes to kill before the concert began so I did one of my favorite hobbies, people watching. 🙂
The concert goers were a cross section of music lovers. Of course, there were the girl’s wearing jeans full of holes. That is a fashion that I think needs psychological analysis.
If they wore those jeans during the summer, I assume many interesting tan lines would be produced. 🙂
Some wore clothes that would be considered church clothes, while other’s clothing might be better described as pool hall attire.
Hair styles and facial hair are impossible to categorize as there are way too many. When I was a teenager our basketball coach ordered all basketball players to wear crewcuts! (and no girlfriends) 🙁
That’s as bad as the stories shared by old timers who claimed they had to walk five miles to and from school all uphill!
During the people watching session I noticed a young lady staring intently downward. I assumed she was reading an iPad or an iPhone.
I gasped inwardly as I realized, no she was not reading an iPhone nor an iPad. She was reading a book, a real book!
I was so impressed with her that I snapped a picture of her with my iPhone.
What a great Facebook post that would make!
Now I am not aware of Facebook rules. If I post this picture of the young book reader without her permission, would she be able to sue me?
But I was so proud of her for still reading books!
I was going to post it and then I didn’t. Should I or should I not?
The young girl was looking down as she read so the side 0f her face was covered by her hair. She was not recognizable.
So, after the decision- making battle continued for some time, I finally did it. I posted the picture of the young girl daring to read a book in public!
I really wasn’t too worried about the lawsuit. After several weeks I had forgotten completely about a possible phone ringing and a gruff voice stating, “Hello, I’m a lawyer and I want to discuss with you a Facebook post you made.”
And then last week it happened to me and Kathie.
I signed Kathie out of the Wheaton Nursing Home, and we made a quick trip to a neighboring town, Wahpeton, ND. to do some shopping at the Walmart Store.
I’m going to say something that may make some of you jealous. My physician has given me orders to gain some weight!
I’m down about twenty pounds after suffering a hip replacement and some other family stress. So now I must eat big breakfasts, lunches and dinners. To top that off I need to have a smoothy drink high in protein just before bedtime.
How lucky can a guy get! 🙂
Now the rest of this blog is going to share how that young lady reading a book has come full circle in my life.
Let me explain.
Coming home that evening I was doing what many of us do, scrolling through our Facebook posts.
Suddenly a very familiar but weird looking post appeared. A man and a women holding hands have their backs to the camera and appear to be preparing to enter the Walmart Store.
“That’s unusual,” I thought. “That man is wearing red shorts and a blue shirt just like me.
“That woman he is holding hands with is dressed just like Kathie,” I thought.
My brain screamed, “My gosh, that is you and Kathie!”
The statement on top of the post read, “Just a couple kids in love. They got a little fancy in the store.”
Yes, they followed us into the store!
I’m glad neither of us had to visit the bathroom. What would a third picture have looked like? First of all, it would have to be a split screen. We don’t share bathrooms at Walmart! 🙂
Now to explain the “They got a little fancy in the store.”
No, it’s not what you think.
Kathie is always cold. So, Walmart Stores are way too cold for her comfort. So instead of continuing holding her hand a put my arm around her protecting her from the cold.
Her two kind daughters have made her two shirts that have the following printed on the front: Yes, I am Cold!!! me 24:7
I’m not sure if that is really Biblical, however.
So how did I like someone sharing our picture on Facebook?
I hope the young book reading concert goer feels like I do after discovering Kathie and my backs splashed all over Facebook
I thought it was fun! It brightened my day and no I have no plans to look up a lawyer and start a lawsuit.
I actually thought our back ends were very attractive,
Just think what I will look like when I regain those twenty pounds!
Until next time!
