Several blogs ago I shared my experience that I had enjoyed with our two daughters as they kidnapped me and forced me to leave Wheaton and travel with them to visit my grandson and his fiancé in Boonville, Missouri.
I was concerned because that would require that I leave Kathie for five days in the Wheaton Care Center.
My two daughters explained to me that Kathie, who was suffering from memory loss, would not even realize I would be missing for those five days.
I knew they were correct, so I reluctantly agreed to make the trip with them without telling Kathie what we would be doing.
The trip was awesome, and I enjoyed it very much!
However, the secrecy of the trip was revealed to Kathie when I returned, as the nurse asked me how I enjoyed the trip to Missouri.
At the time Kathie was sitting right next to me. Gulp!
I waited for a barrage of questions from Kathie, but they never came.
I realized, then, my two wise daughters were correct when they said Kathie would never miss me. It made me kind of sad. 🙁
You may remember in the Road Trip blog I had shared what fun it was to be a back-seat driver and listen to my two daughters giggling non-stop in the front seat.
It was so nonstop that when we pulled into a gas station, I went into the convenience store and purchased each of them an award for their cheerful behavior.
Returning to the car I approached with a beaming smile and made my presentation, two packages of “Ding Dongs”! 🙂
And of course, you know what that resulted in, more giggling!
I believe I was doing some giggling myself. 🙂
The months flew by and before I knew it, it was the Christmas season.
We celebrated Christmas at Jill and Greggs’ house this year. And of course, it proved to be a time for more giggling.
Gift exchange time arrived as we sat in a big circle.
The excitement that was present when the eight grandkids were young was missing as they are all approaching adulthood.
Also, three more have been added to the original eight. Budding romances tend to do that. 🙂
And then those familiar giggles sounded as my two daughters approached me each holding a box of ten “Ding Dongs”.
Tape covered the word Ding on one box and covered the word Dongs on the second box.
Now for the life of me I don’t remember who was the Ding and who was the Dongs?
But I smile whenever I think about them.
I get to consume twenty tasty Ding Dongs all by myself. 🙂
I’ll be sure to space them out over several weeks as we old folks have to watch our blood sugar levels.
Now after writing a blog about twenty Ding Dongs, I think I’ll just get up from this computer and go enjoy a Ding Dong. Only one of course! 🙂
Happy New Year!
Until next time.
