The following blog is actually the Christmas letter that I sent to friends and family minus the pictures (I don’t know how to include pictures as my brain is not wired to complete such difficult tasks.)
Hopefully this Christmas note will add to your Christmas cheer! 🙂
Larson’s Holiday Letter in Rhyme
I’ve written two rhyming nature books and now I can’t stop,
So, this Christmas letter may be a flop!
Now I am in a rhyming rut,
So, this Christmas letter in prose may get cut!
Instead, I’ll use rhymes to share our year,
Feel free to stand, applaud or jeer.
Kathie and I are still living in our country home,
Enjoy watching the deer, squirrels, and songbirds roam.
Pumpkins dominated our garden again this year,
Enough orange orbs to satisfy eight grandkids so dear!
My book The Easter Sparrows has found success in the Ukraine.
Four thousand copies were donated to children suffering war pains.
Every workday we start the day with coffee and talk,
Gossiping with friends has proved as healthy as taking a walk!
The annual gathering at Steve and Saras’ lake,
Took place again with the boat producing wake after wake!
We deliver Meals on Wheels for a week now and then,
We must not dawdle, or home bounds will insist we not come again!
Eight names that we love to the moon and back,
Bryce, Brooke, Bree and Selena make up the first pack,
Then there is Tristin, Miah, Logan, and Caylin,
When all the grandkids are together there is noise, laughter and even some wailing!
Mike and Kathie were invited to Arden Hills to celebrate his Easter Sparrows’ book,
But Mike is getting along in years and thoughts of city driving resulted in legs that shook and shook!
Then an idea popped in Mike’s head, he sent out an internet “help” to his kids,
The first to reply was daughter Jill so a search for a driver was put on the skids.
Sister Bonnie thought the road trip sounded like fun,
So, she decided to ride along as shot gun!
The Ukrainian meal was tasty and the full house each receive Mike’s book.
Then Mike took out his pen and the book owners viewed how his penmanship looked.
Before leaving the Cities, we visited Mike’s 93- year- old first cousin once removed,
Her daughter was with her who is Mike’s second cousin it’s been proved.
The year is nearly over and eventful it has been,
Now we await the coming year to write a poem again!
The End 🙂
